Tow linen yarn are made from the shorter flax fibres. The shorter fibres in the tow yarns give a more rustic impression then the more elegant longfibre linen yarn.
Tow linen yarns have the same charachteristics as flax linen yarn. They are tronger, more adsorbent and dries faster then cotton, but they have less elasticity. They feel cool, due to the higher connectivity for heat. Flax fibres are stronger when they are wet, whch is unusual for fibres. But they have low elasticity and can break if they are repeatedly folded or ironed on the same place.
Linen fabrics have a high degree of natural luster that give textiles the special beautiful linen look.
Tow linen yarn is most suitable as a weft yarn, but can also be cast.
