At the top we see the province flower of Uppland “The snakes head”, Carl von Linné found a new species for Sweden in 1742 and he named it after the place he found it - Kungsängen.

Sea Eagle. It is our largest bird of prey. It was highly endangered due to environmental toxins and hunting. Thanks to supplementary feeding, it has survived.

Postrodden. One Saturday in June every year, the mail row goes from Grisslehamn to Åland. The rowing honors the postal workers who ferried mail and passengers across the Åland Sea.

Wira mill, When Wira mill was built in 1630, the idea was to make Sweden independent of stabbing weapons, e.g. swords and bayonets. Later, production was rescheduled and scytes were produced instead. The number was the same - about 12,000.

Sigtuna Town Hall. Sigtuna is Sweden's oldest and still functioning city. It was founded in the 970s. Sigtuna has Sweden's smallest town hall built in 1744.

The Throne kingdom. The areas around Östervåla are called the Throne Kingdom. From the beginning, it was poor farmers who needed extra income. From this a craft industry grew up at the end of the 19th century

Carl Linnaeus. The Småland boy who became one of the most famous Swedes abroad. Carl lived his adult life in Uppsala together with his wife Sara-Lisa and their five children.

Uppsala Cathedral. The largest church building in the Nordic region. The church began to be built in 1270 and was consecrated in 1435. Some famous Swedes are buried in the Cathedral, e.g. Gustav Vasa and Carl von Linné

Pelle Svanlös. One of Uppsala's more famous characters. Gösta Knutsson wrote the story about Pelle the cat and his friends Maja Gräddnos, Elaka Måns, Bill and Bull.

The Wallinska farms. The houses are located by the small square in Norrtälje.

Adjustable Spanner. It was constructed by Johan Petter Johansson, son of Enköping. He received a patent in 1891.
In 1998, the millionth spanner was produced at Bachos in Enköping.

The Royal Mounds of Uppsala. Excavations have shown that they are burial mounds. The diameter is 55 - 70 m and they are between 7 and 11 m high.

Manhole cover. Has, among other things, been manufactured in Tierp. There are many of us who have avoided going on manhole covers with an A on them. A stand for envy, loathing and interrupted love. The opposite is the K-covers which mean love, they were good to step on. Actually, the letters A and K stand for drain and sewer.

Birka. The city was founded at the end of the 7th century and was the center of the Mälardalen. Birka is Sweden's first city and has been on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites since 1993.

Brick. Heby was Sweden's center for the brick industry. Our only remaining brickyard is in the area.
